Brian’s work centers around the big picture questions facing our global civilization. What are the most important issues of our time? How can we best address them through global cooperation?
He currently focuses on researching and improving cooperation over AI safety, governance, and stability between great powers. Brian is a Policy Affiliate at the University of Oxford’s Center for the Governance of AI, Coordinator at the Beijing AI Academy’s AI4SDGs Cooperation Network, and Senior Advisor at the Partnership on AI. He has advised organizations such as Google DeepMind, OpenAI, Baidu, Tencent’s WeBank, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and Tsinghua University’s World Peace Forum.
Brian also works on improving relations between China and the world. He regularly advises philanthropists, nonprofits, and authors on issues including biotechnology governance, alternative proteins, and effective philanthropy. Brian has incubated several fellowship programs for cultivating the next generation of leaders dedicated to safeguarding our shared future.
Brian was a former investment banking analyst at J.P. Morgan. He was named a Global Shaper by the World Economic Forum. Brian has studied economics, statistics, and philosophy at Tsinghua University, Harvard University, and the University of Hong Kong.
